About the author - Simon Murch

This is the first novel by Simon Murch, a former

oarsman who is now a Professor of Paediatrics.

Water under the bridge was written while he

was enduring one of the lengthiest and most

unusual proceedings in British regulatory history

― the ongoing GMC hearing into a Lancet Early

Report that first identified bowel abnormalities

in autistic children.

Simon Murch (pictured racing in the Silver Goblets at Henley in the days when men were men - he's at bow and Rory Gallaher at stroke) admits to having lost one Henley final and three semi-finals, as well as receiving summary ejection from the lightweight national rowing squad just before Henley. He insists that any similarities with his characters stop there, and that any suggestions that he might be grumpy, use bad language, worship unusual gods or enjoy red wine are almost certainly unfounded.
